The Rogers Family
by
George Rogers
2001Hornby pioneer Peter R. Rogers, born 1798 in Dutchess County was a veteran of the War of 1812 and almost certainly the grandson of Revolutionary War veteran Richard Rogers. He married Eliza Jane Perkins July 04, 1819, in Milton, Ulster County, NY. The Lattingtown Baptist Church where they were married still stands today. Eliza was born December 30, 1801, in New Paltz, Ulster County, and although her father has not yet been determined her grandfather was almost certainly Ebenezer Perkins, a well known citizen of New Paltz. They first lived in Hornby for five years starting in 1831, then moved to Geneva, NY and finally settled in Hornby in 1843.
